Because of the division of the bottom b/g molding, the bottom will have an even number a clip each side of the union (2 center clips) followed by equally spaced clips. If you want to get into correct, technical structure layout, the top moldings should be an odd, not even, number: If you space equally from one-dead center, the number will always be odd, no matter how many clips you use. The locations in the pictures are as good as a guide as any, and if they are in the ballpark, it’s “factory correct.” Before committing, use your moldings to verify that the clips don’t interfere with the molding unions. In addition to the pinch welds/studs being factory, they are in such pristine, rust-free condition, they still have factory paint, and factory dressing in the corners, so they didn’t need to be sandblasted simply, prepped and painted. These aren’t precision built cars some guy standing there with a stud gun, going zap-zap-zap, so don’t go splitting hairs on this one because each car is going to vary. It depended on how many the particular worker decided to install for instance, notice the left lower corner of the back glass. If anyone has a picture of the pins/retaining clips on their front windshield I would appreciate seeing it since I want to use the correct positions only and possibly get rid of the excess pins that someone put on there. I counted last night and it has 18 pins across the top of the windshield, which I am thinking it should have about 12 less.lol I am thinking that it should have a total of 6 across the top and someone wanted to put a lot of over kill in there since they were using the wrong retaing clips. Thanks Hansee! I have three on each side, but the top, I am guessing someone wanted to make sure the trim didnt fly off. And yes, the clips are installed over the studs/pins/screws and slide over. I'm sure others could chime in and verify. Like I said, I only installed the ones at the rear window and there were only four retainer clips, if I remember right. USMC Ordy, I do not know how many pins there are supposed to be on the upper windshield molding.
